Climbing the rope is one of the oldest and probably the most natural exercises known to man, apart from lifting and unfolding. Even the cavemen even used rope climbing (or some kind of vine) to either avoid danger or jump out in search of food. It was even an Olympic event at one time.
The revival of functional fitness caused an explosion of fitness enthusiasts once again moving towards old and dusty exercises. Climbing the rope requires enormous strength of the upper body.
